The motto of Stanford University is “Die Luft der Freiheit weht.” It seems that sometimes this wind carries with it great bs clear across the land and right on up to the Capitol Building.
As I have told you many times in many ways with many stark examples, lying scientists are a scourge of the twenty-first century: The Age of Fakery. They lie collectively, and feel safe within the collective.
On December 6, 2011 the much-decorated Professor Roger Blandford of Stanford University testified before the US House of Representatves, Committee on Science, Space, and Technology. He was a witness in the hearings on the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) program.

Great bs artiste
How does this concern you? In a very real way. Separating the citizenry from billions of tax dollars. Expert scientists give scam testimony that the Congress for their own reasons want to hear. It works out very well.
In order to serve all of astronomy and be mankind’s future Hubble Telescope, JWST should have been designed as an optical telescope. Instead, it was dedicated to Big Bang Cosmology and designed as an infrared telescope.
Now that Big Bang is kaput, the JWST backers are left trying to justify why it is an infrared telescope. And they are advancing the very same Big Bang arguments, but pitching them as large, generally accepted scientific truths. This is the kind of blatant bs artistry and chicanery being played out in the public arena.
As things stand now, the multi-billion dollar, resource-guzzling JWST will have limited user base in astronomy – in proportion of infrared astronomers among astronomers at large.
And because it will provide no optical images, it will have little appeal to the world citizenry.
