After paying his dues in hardcore physics, Hannes Alfvén had turned to cosmology. His methodology there was to be guided by modern space observations. While he had his own ideas in cosmology, his objection to Big Bang stemmed not from this rivalry but from his scientific gut. For this objection he was much derided by the American Big Bang establishment which was riding high on political power and media power.
Alfvén ended his scientific career on a note of despair that Big Bang was unstoppable.
Hannes Alfvén was himself a Physics Nobel Laureate, a prominent member of the Royal Swedish Academy and a major scientific figure in cosmology and space science. As such, he was officially, logically and eminently includable as an arbiter in the evaluation of potential Big Bang Nobel Prizes. But the 1978 Big Bang Nobels sailed through fine, after Alfvén objected to this very idea in a prominent publication in 1977. After Alfvén’s voice went still, the flood gates opened on Big Bang Nobels: Two Laureates in 2006 and three Laureates in 2011. More to come, no doubt. Never have we seen such rejoicing since Exodus 32.

One question:- the Universe is vast, very old and possibly infinite in size, so surely to justify claims of the radiation measured being a remnant of the Big Bang these measurements should be repeatable at widely spaced cosmic distances before being accepted as meaningful, so even if your analysis is wrong the results so far obtained are without value. Obviously we are nowhere near being able to do this, and so the project was meaningless anyway. We have been making measurements of this sort for less than 100 years, so have not measured anything originating outside a sphere of approx. 100 light years diameter—–what is the supposed size of the BB universe?

Big Bang Cosmologists do not give a size of the universe. To do so would be problematic for them.
