HOW LANGUAGE RESCUED BIG BANG THEORY

There have been sad news items lately reminding us of that old Dutch proverb from the Brueghel painting:

He who has spilt his porridge cannot scrape it all up again

Nobel Laureate James Watson, who made some unfortunate remarks a long time ago, is in the news because, reportedly, he had fallen on hard times in the aftermath of those remarks and had recently to sell his Nobel Prize gold medal.

Nobel Laureate Tim Hunt recently slipped up with his language, and was forced to resign immediately. But the reverberations are continuing.

I am not going to judge them.

But I got to thinking. If language can sink Nobels, can it also rescue Nobels? Read on. The applicable proverb in this case is in the diagram.
