BREAKTHROUGH TODAY, NOBEL TOMORROW

Folks, the LIGO discovery has just been awarded the Breakthrough Prize.

What is important to note here is that the announcement gives the names of all the people on the award committee that stands behind this prize. Note that there are four Nobel Laureates on the committee. Towering above them all is Edward Witten. He issued the following statement:

“This amazing achievement lets us observe for the first time some of the remarkable workings of Einstein’s theory. Theoretical ideas about black holes which were close to being science fiction when I was a student are now reality.”

(It is curious that Nobel Laureate and Breakthrough Laureate Brian Schmidt who was on this committee is not mentioned.)

And don’t forget that Kip Thorne was made TIME’s Most Influential Man with lightning speed following the announcement of the discovery.

With that kind of finely choreographed build up of endorsements to a crescendo, the Nobel Prize is practically in the bag!

Who can stop this anymore?

Only the physics establishment can. I would like to see a total and pointed rejection by them of these endorsements from a select coterie of intellectuals bonded together by the fact that they have each eaten Yuri Milner’s salt. They are doing Milner’s bidding. Committee my foot!

I don’t know that a single solitary one of these endorsers has the ability to analyze the nitty-gritty of the LIGO instrument.
