Here’s another item from the dusty recesses of my old files I thought I would share. In a small way it has some historical flavor: It concerns the first tentative venturing of an American oil company into the oil fields of Kazakhstan (the Korolev-Tengiz fields). At issue were billions of dollars. The approach was successful and Chevron today has a big presence in Kazakhstan.
The following inter-company memorandum speaks for itself. It was written from Chevron Overseas Petroleum Inc (COPI) to Chevron Oil Field Research Company (COFRC).
In the same historical vein, another thing comes to mind. When I was in the aerospace industry, China was allowed to get her first LANDSAT Earth Station. I was the Antenna Engineer on that. I made a presentation to the high level Chinese delegation, interpreter and all.
