This paper from an international collaboration on the geomagnetic nature of the LIGO signal was submitted for publication in November 2016. This means that the study had to be ongoing during the latter half of 2016. At least one author is an official member of the LIGO collaboration.

So the LIGO leaders were aware that LIGO was unraveling in mid 2016.

Between then and now a number of high profile international prizes were awarded to LIGO, and LIGO accepted these with great glorying. These prizes include the AAS Berkeley Prize, and two major European prizes: megabuck Korber Prize and the Princess of Asturias Prize.

Also during this period, NSF Director France Cordova repeatedly issued strong statement of support for LIGO, and strong commitment to fund LIGO in the face of the Trump budget cut for NSF (11%).

Pause and think about what is going on!
